Transportation Services

Clients & families

Following the Lanterman Act and Purchase of Service Guidelines, transportation services help people get to work, school (college or Adult Ed), and day programs. These services include:

Public Transportation (Reduced Fare Bus Passes):

  • Riders can use Pronto Cards, which offer reduced fares for seniors, disabled individuals, or Medicare cardholders (SDM).
  • The cards are reloaded as long as the person qualifies.
  • Riders must have a Reduced Fare ID, renewed every 5 years, to show they meet the SDM requirements.

ADA Paratransit Services (NCTD LIFT and MTS Access):

  • Riders must get ADA Certified every 5 years through their transit agency (NCTD or MTS).
  • They can schedule rides, and tickets are sent monthly if they meet the requirements.
  • Pick-up and drop-off locations must be within the ADA service area.
  • Approved riders may bring a Personal Care Attendant (PCA), who can ride for free.

Vouchers for Parental Reimbursement:

  • Reimbursements are available to parents or clients for transportation that meets the program’s criteria.
  • The amount depends on the distance traveled.

Contracted Transportation Services:

  • This curb-to-curb service is for those who cannot use fixed-route or ADA Paratransit services.
  • Sometimes, an aide may ride in the vehicle to assist.

Mobility Training:

Offered for individuals learning to ride fixed-route buses to work, school, or day programs. Training is short-term and focuses on teaching routes and safe travel practices.
